The function of the current entrance is not known, but the large fireplace has been preserved. Next to the entrance the living room is realised in one of the two barns. The open roof cavity, stone walls and doors create an impressive space. The walls where once the cows where standing behind are now a barrier to a room behind it that is currently used as a bedroom. In the mezzanine a TV room is located. The total living room area comprises approximately 50 sqm, has doors to the garden and is heated by a wood stove.
A hallway on the other side of the entrance leads to the kitchen. This is also a large room with a striking old fireplace. In case you find this too authentic you could consider installing a wood stove in its place. The kitchen is clearly in French, with several cupboards and loose equipment. The kitchen has a hatch that gives access to the basement. Between the kitchen and the entrance is a bathroom that has a shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin.
From the kitchen, you can go to a bedroom on the first floor of over 20 m² with a wooden floor. Remarkably, the walls are not papered but covered with textile. From the entrance you have access another bedroom on this floor. Again you see the exposed ceiling beams, which gives a special atmosphere to this room. This bedroom has a small dormer.
There used to be two barns both on the left and right side of the house. The barn on the left is now used as a garage. The barn on the right has a floor. Here you find a connection for the washingmachine. The (ground floor) area of the barn is approximately 70 sqm.
Opposite the house is an old well with a trough. Ideal for spraying the plants. Next to it a BBQ. The plot is approximately 1,500 m², south facing and is situated next to the house. Under a number of old trees you can find a shady spot. The property has an entrance gate and is completely fenced on all sides.
On the other side of the access road is another garden plot of 539 sqm. The house has a a woodlot (5290 m²) with a small stream. This lot is located at approximately 5 minutes walking distance from the house.
The total area of the farm, the garden plot and is the woodlots is 7339 sqm. The former farmhouse is situated on a small road that runs through the hamlet. On this side of the road are just two houses. Because this house has a fully closed rear wall, and the second house is at a distance, you are completely private once you're through the gate. The postman and the other residents of the hamlet will be the only users of the road.
If you are looking for a farmhouse with character, while you are not keen on a major renovation, you should certainly visit this former farmhouse. The current owners have preserved the original features wherever possible. The kitchen and living room have become particularly spacious living spaces. With a low maintenance south facing garden, you will be able to fully enjoy the French life, both indoors and outdoors.
