Low maintenance home with terrace and views
ST GENGOUX LE NATIONAL, SAONE ET LOIRE, BURGUNDY
The house is found in a small village tucked away on a quiet road in this area rich in Romanesque architecture. It is just a few minutes’ drive from medieval St Gengoux le National with its weekly summer market and all amenities. A 10 minute bike ride will take you to the centre point of the greenway cycle route going north through the wine villages to Chalon sur Saone or south to Macon past Taizé and Cluny.
You can access the ground floor hallway either from the covered entrance under the terrace or through the attached garage. To one side is a utility room, with plenty of space to have another use as well, to the other side stairs lead to the main living floor. Here is a bright open plan room with a patio window framing the open country scenery, a mixture of rolling pastures and orderly vines. In one corner is a fitted kitchen with morning sunlight from its window. The large covered terrace is the best room in the house, where you can relax with family or friends and admire the unspoilt views. Also on this level is the master bedroom, its shower room with double sink and Italian shower, and a separate WC. Upstairs a central landing leads to 2 further double bedrooms, and a second shower room with WC.
The property has retained its character on the outside, and the intelligent room layout inside makes it spacious yet compact, easy to maintain and economical to heat. It is well insulated and equipped with PVC double glazing and electric heating; efficient programmable radiators in the living areas and convectors in the bedrooms. The decoration is neutral and contemporary with attractive slate tiles on the floor of the living areas and softer carpet tiles in the bedrooms.
Under the raised terrace is a handy secure storeroom for bicycles, quad bike, fishing tackle or whatever you may need for your leisure activities. The 25 m2 garage is large enough for the family car with still room for further storage if necessary. These both have electric doors, with a manual option on top.
