In the old center of the picturesque Larochemillay lies this ancient cottage, once one of the bakeries of the former town. The bread oven still exists. The house has a spacious living room (approx. 36 m2) with beamed ceiling, wood stove and kitchen corner. Upstairs two bedrooms and a shower.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a shower. Across the narrow alley, where the cottage is located, there are a few sheds and a low-maintenance enclosed garden. A very suitable place for a cozy holiday home.

Larochemillay, formerly Rupes Militis, the Soldiers' Rock, is possibly where Julius Caesar had encamped his cavalry during his wintering at Bibracte, 52 BC. It was a town with a history of wars. Well-known are the destruction in 765 and the battle in 1544 in which the city walls were destroyed. These were never rebuilt after that and in fact Larochemillay was spared from misery until the first world war. Buckwheat was not taxed, so that the inhabitants never really suffered from hunger. The French Revolution passed the town unscathed. Now it is a quiet village, where artists found their place, with two restaurants and surrounded by the endless forests of the Morvan.

The Morvan is a large nature reserve of roughly 50 by 70 km in the heart of Burgundy with an impressive flora and fauna. History buffs are also welcome here. Close to Larochemillay, on the top of the Mont Beuvray, are the foundations of the Celtic and early Gallo-Roman town of Bibracte. There is a Celtic museum here and the excavations can be followed live. Close by is the ancient city of Autun, with a beautiful cathedral and lovely centuries-old houses, as well as an amphitheatre, Roman city gates and temples and large intact parts of the old city walls. In addition to the many old cultural sites, it is also a place of pleasure for the culinary enthusiast. The Friday market makes the heart beat faster and the many restaurants do the rest.
