Newsletter summer 2025

Bonjour,
this spring was even our most successful period ever. Falling mortgage rates and a resurgent interest in regional real estate projects clearly played a role in this.

Since the beginning of 2025, we have noticed a clear increase in interest in characterful and older properties, particularly in rural areas. This is certainly true for regions such as Burgundy, where charm, tranquillity and space go hand in hand – but also in other parts of France where we operate.

Newsletter summer 2025
 More factors are at play

The increased interest is due to several factors: mortgage interest rates have stabilised, foreign buyers – especially from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany – remain actively searching, and many people are considering a new lifestyle, for example in the run-up to their retirement or to be able to work remotely.

Although we are receiving more applications, viewings and serious discussions than in previous years, this has not yet translated into a noticeable increase in the number of homes sold. Possible causes include longer consideration periods for buyers, stricter requirements from banks, or uncertainty about renovation costs and permits.
However, we expect this to be only a matter of time: with summer just around the corner and administrative backlogs being cleared, the number of transactions is expected to pick up in the coming months.

With this successful spring behind us, we are consciously taking it down a notch during the summer months. Our team of agents will use this period to train, reflect and enjoy the French summer.

In this newsletter
Further on in this newsletter, we start with another wonderful story about emigrating to France, this time from the Netherlands! Read this heart-warming interview to find out how Arjen and Annita followed their dream and fell head over heels for a charming house in Colmery. Next, we would like to introduce you to the agent who successfully guided Arjen and Annita through their house hunt, Linda Bakker! Linda lives in La Charité-sur-Loire. Her personal story is one of courage, love for France and a life that they have completely rebuilt here.

Then we will explore the area around La Charité-sur-Loire with her: a region where history, nature and hospitality come together. You will discover all there is to do, the hidden gems of the landscape and, of course, where to go for a good glass of wine.
We will also introduce you to the local cuisine, with two authentic dishes that go perfectly with the fresh flavours of the Pouilly-sur-Loire wine region. And we look back on a special summer evening at Château de Dracy-Lès-Couches, where wine, music and people came together under the stars.

We wish you an inspiring, sunny and, above all, flavourful summer. And when you are in France, we hope you will visit us. Enjoy reading and we hope to see you soon in Burgundy!
