Recipe Le pain d'épices aux figues

There’s no time like the present to bring a little French influence into your kitchen and here’s a favourite from the Burgundy region, which roughly translated is gingerbread with figs. It’s an easy recipe… here’s what you will need:

• 4 tablespoons of honey

• 4 tablespoons of jam (orange)

• 1 glass of hot milk (20 cl)

• 250g of flour

• 5g of baking powder

• 2 tablespoons of cinnamon

• 6 dried figs

Now mix the honey and jam with the hot milk and add in the flour and baking powder.

Mix it well adding in the figs, which you should cut into small pieces. Then add the 2 tablespoons of cinnamon. Mix again until everything has blended and then pour into a buttered and floured baking/cake dish.
Place in a pre-heated oven and bake at 210°C (thermostat 7) for 45 min to 1 hour.

Et voila! …a little slice of France to get you in the mood for your future visit.
